Why you should go to Switzerland Summer 2023:

Summer is perfect for discovering the most beautiful places in Switzerland by train, bus and boat. This year, many mountain railways celebrate their 130th birthday, while the brand new GoldenPass Express increases the connections between Montreux and Interlaken.

The GoldenPass Express Experience:

The world’s first GoldenPass Express guarantees even more fun between Montreux and Interlaken. From 11 June 2023, the latest addition to the premium panorama trains of the Montreux-Oberland Railway Bernese (MOB) will cover no less than four connections a day. Without any exchange. Passengers will be able to choose between three different classes and be pampered on board with regional delicacies. The “Prestige” class will offer the maximum comfort and a travel experience that will satisfy any type of need.

On the Pilatus every half hour:

Built in 1889, the Pilatusbahn will soon wear a new look. To May 2023, eight new trains from Stadler Rail will carry passengers up the Lucerne mountain. The steepest rack of the world will leave for the Pilatus every half hour. And you won’t have to wait to get to the top to admire incredible panoramic views: the widewindows, in fact, will allow you to enjoy the view while the train will climb upwards.

Zermatt and Cervinia connected by the Matterhorn Glacier Ride II:

In the spring, the Matterhorn Glacier Ride II will begin operating in Piccolo Cervino and the Testa Grigia in Italy, making the crossing of the highest Alpine pass by cable car a reality (Matterhorn Alpine Crossing). The ultra-modern structure will be able to carry up to 1,300 people per hour. The total absence of trellises will give the impression of being suspended in the air and, for an even more unique experience, you can accommodate in one of the two Crystal Ride cabins. These cabins are characterized by an elegant design studded with countless crystals and a floor in glass, which will allow you to admire the panorama of the Alps. Thanks to this uninterrupted and barrier-free connection, for the first  time it will be possible to go from the Matterhorn Paradise to the Snow Xperience Plateau Rosa without ski equipment.

Happy birthday to these mountain railways:

Most of the Swiss mountain railways were built in turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Each of them contributed decisively to the flourishing of alpine tourism, making the mountain peaks accessible even to those who did not practice mountaineering. If some railways have modernized their trainsets over the years, others remain faithful to the old fashioned style. In 2023, the following mountain railways will celebrate 130 years: Schynige Platte-Bahn, Brienz-Rothorn-Bahn, Stanserhornbahn and Wengernalpbahn.

The Bernina Express celebrates its 50th anniversary:

Happy birthday to one of the most famous trains in Switzerland! In June of 1973, the fiery red train traveled from Chur to Tirano for the first time. From then to now, the Rhaetian Railway has transported more than 10 million passengers aboard the Bernina Express, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful. Its route winds along the famous UNESCO heritage site and is an integral part of the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland.
