CERN Science Gateway: The New Space for Scientific Dissemination in Switzerland

The new space for scientific dissemination, designed by Renzo Piano, opens in 2023. Science Gateway is a facility completely dedicated to science education and dissemination. Through immersive exhibits and hands-on educational activities, it will allow people of all ages and backgrounds to feel part of CERN’s scientific and technological discoveries and activities.

Science Gateway will aim to encourage young people to pursue a career in science and technology. The architecture of Science Gateway draws inspiration from CERN’s technical installations and underground tunnels. The five different buildings that make it up will host exhibitions, practical workshops, a large auditorium, a shop and a restaurant, all connected by a bridge that will rise 6 meters above the ground.

Thanks to more than 2,000 square meters of solar panels and the forest of 400 trees that will surround it, Science Gateway will be carbon neutral for the environment The Science Gateway was designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, the world-renowned design firm, with support from Brodbeck-Roulet architectes associés. https://sciencegateway.cern/it
