- Looking for what Rome offers young people? Look no further. We recommend a picnic on the Spanish steps, a walk through the vintage shops in Via del Governo Vecchio, see Rome from the top of Saint Peter’s, and more!
Rome may be an old city, but it’s a wonderful place for young people to go to eat, drink, explore and experience. For those who are looking for a little more energy than just museum tours, we’ve put together a list of the five best things for young people to do when visiting this amazing city.
1. A picnic on the Spanish Steps
Grab your friends and some snacks and head to the Spanish Steps in the historical district of Rome. Join the crowds in soaking up the sun and do some people-watching as you feast the afternoon away on fresh bread and Italian pastries. When the sun goes down, enjoy a walk through the shopping area nearby.
2. Vintage Shopping in Via Del Governo Vecchio
Vintage shopping is a great way to shop sustainably and find one-of-a-kind pieces you’ll never forget. Even if you aren’t looking to buy, you’ll have a great time sifting through the racks.
3. Climb Saint Peter’s Basilica
The best way to see Rome may be from the top of Saint Peter’s Basilica, a beautiful part of the Vatican. Separate from the Vatican Museums, avoid the lines and climb to the top of the beautiful and famous church where you can see all of Rome and the mountains in the distance.
4. An Evening in Trastevere
Known as the up-and-coming district of Rome, Trastevere’s winding cobblestone streets are sure to hold a good night for young people. As home to many colleges, Trastevere has tons of restaurants, shops and nightlife.
5. Spend the day in the Gardens of the Villa Borghese
Looking for some fresh air? Head to the Gardens of the Villa Borghese and explore the beautiful gardens, ponds and city views. If museums are your thing, the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea is a great one for young people. If not, simply bring a book and join the locals in the grassy fields or have an aperitivo at one of the small restaurants along the paths of the park.
We hope you’ll find something fun from this list! Don’t forget that with RomaPass, you can get access to these experiences, transportation, including Lime scooters and discounts at participating restaurants! Enjoy a youthful time in an ancient city.
